R372 headed east thru North Vernon, Indiana. North Vernon at one time was one of the main railroad junctions in Indiana, with the Baltimore and Ohio, New York Central and Pennsylvania all coming into town at one time. In fact, according to local North Vernon legend, there was never a bank robbery in North Vernon because there were so many trains operating in the North Vernon streets at one time, preventing any fast excape route for the would be robbers!
