Early fall, 1992, CSX train #R397 headed west up Sand Patch grade, just out of the Cumberland Narrows. Powered by 4 C40-8 locomotives with over 16,000 horsepower, as well as helpers behind, this train was moving fast and would certainly have no problem tackling the mountain grades ahead. R397 and its east bound counterpart R396 are auto parts trains and usually ran right behind the morning Trailer Jets.
