As the 1990's progressed CSX began receiving multiple orders of General Electric C40-8 locomotives. The first order of these, numbered 7500-7594, were delivered in the "stealth" all gray paint scheme with blue trucks. This paint scheme proved very unpopular with safety experts, and was short lived. This is train R135, running with C40-8 power early in the 1990's which was rare. It was tried a few times, but these engines, although powerful, are not as fast at acceleration as the GP40's. After experimenting with C40's for a time, CSX returned GP40 diesel power to the Trailer Jets, at least for a few more years The location of this photograph is just a few hundred feet east of the previous photographs, just around the corner from Fairhope, PA.
